Hey..
The Chrysler front-drive platforms kept many a transmission shop in business through the 1980's. K-cars are good for something.

Had a great day yesterday, tore down and started cleaning my CA95 motor. Much more cleaning to do too. Cliff.

Repositioned the rectifier on the 84 GS 750 from under the battery box to right side of the frame, just beneath the passenger portion of the seat.
Electrical/charging systems on these bikes were "adequate" only when all components were in good shape. The rectifier generates heat and the cool air when bike is in motion is used to keep it functioning within temperature range. Unfortunately, the rectifier also lives attached to the bottom portion of the battery box partially shielded from any air flow, and what air does get to it is coming off the hot cylinders. Cooling effect is not what it could be.
Moving the unit to its new location ensures the unit has constant cooler air flow to remove as much heat as possible from the rectifier heat sink.
Mini project .....consisted of building a new mounting bracket for the rectifier and extending the existing wiring to the rear of the bike.

Does not have to be a shame..
I typically. Go through periods of Excessive Riding..then periods of no riding..
Just the way the Muffin crumbles for some of us..
Last bike I had, I rode 700 times in under 3 years..... Now nothing for a while..long while..
But when I picked up that last bike, I rode 15 miles on it the first day to where, I could work with no it for a half day. Then set out at 5 pm from Calgary and got to Shoshone Idaho by dark, next night............. Just the way things ends up..
Feast or famine..
What. I do find encouraging though is that two guys I rode with in the seventies are still riding their bikes every week. Peter rode to Vernon and back this past week, and Don is seen downtown, a few days a week.... Both are in their 60,s. Or 70,s..good on them..
