I didn't appreciate this band from the 70's back in the day, but in hindsight they had some tremendous songs.  This was one of them.

This song was popular in the early 60's.  I've always liked it, and apparently movie producers did as well.  It's been featured in several, including Forest Gump.

Another song from the early 60's.  It's a story about a girl who got hassled by a guy while her boyfriend was away.  The boyfriend returned and now it's payback time!  Nice harmony!

This earlies 60's song was covered by quite a few groups, including the Beatles.  It was popular when I was entering my teens.  Again, some nice harmony.

In 1952 Sonny "Hootin'" Terry and His Night Owls released "Women is Killin' Me"    Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder do a good job covering this song.

As much as I like Ry Cooder....the original is more in my line.  The beginning reminds me of Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley.

Moving on to more modern songs....In 1972 I was an engineering student working for the summer at a mine in N Ontario.  To make a little extra cash I took a part time job in a bar, where I first heard this song by a well known singer.  It was quite popular that summer so I heard it many times, and it forms my impression of that era.

Richard Betts died today.  He was a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band.  He wrote this song.

This guy was very popular in the late 60's.  I thought his music was a little strong, but I bought this album and enjoyed it thoroughly.  I wish I still had it.

 He sang the song but didn't write it.  She sang with him and is a famous songwriter but she didn't write it either.  This group did.
