March 21, 1971, Bread, led by David Gates, released the soft rock ballad, "IF". It reached #4 on the Billboard Top 100, #6 in Canada, and reached #1 for a 4 week stretch on the US and Cdn Easy Listening charts.

I first heard this song in the late 1990's while running on a treadmill. I was attracted to the beat and looked it up when I got home from the gym. Imagine my surprise when I learned who was singing it.

This gentleman was a huge up and comer in the mid to late 60's, and was famous for another song about being out of work in San Francisco. But this cover of a very old song (also made famous by another group in the 70's) is really good!
