...and then I found this..
...or more aptly, lost this.
Couldn't find another one. ...even though they made them from 1949 till 1977, but managed to get a "newer" one, that I then massaged till it worked.
...till I find an original.
Things that we do to keep Tired Iron runnin eh.

I finally got around to replacing the 850s grungey front master cylinder reservoir and cap with a kit found on ebay. Looks good, stock appearing, fit well. But, the darn thing leaked a bit around the cap. Did not like that, as I had stripped and repainted the metal parts of the front brake master. Had another look at the original cap and reservoir, and discovered that the new one did not include the metal plate between the cap and rubber. Cleaned up the original plate, slipped onto the new assembly just right, and here's hoping leakage is abated.

Added some extensions to my glasspacks. This cut off access to my spools so back on went the centre stand. Damn I hate centre stand springs. Never enough room and guaranteed smashed knuckles. Even with the tools to do it.

So you were the one. I have to ask though, didn't one of those motors have a bike wrapped around it? :-)
Almost forgot. Need you sandblasting this week. Have to get rid of some ugly green paint.

Did one more mod to the breather system on my Norton. Finally added the one way valve on the main breather pipe. After one test run it looks AOK.
Also the catch bottle had filled with blow by thanks to an over filled oil tank. I emptied that oo. That's where the oil was coming from Tired Iron!

Got the new stator and starter solenoid installed in the Silverwing.
Everything seems to be A-ok now!

I will just have to refrain from commenting as if I did I would just be bitching about what a lucky bastard you are.
Ooops, did I say that in my outside voice? Going to be a great looking bike when you are done.
Frank
ps I may not be doing much on my bikes but I am picking out the odd one to add to the project pile, here is a '66 Norton Atlas that someone had converted for hill-climbing. Hmmmm should it stay a climber or become a social climber with a new tank and swingarm (GOT!) plus a little paint? Not sure yet, got the time to think about it.
