Title: Free parts! The pay-it-forward thread...
Post by: Twisted_Twin on May 11, 2017, 09:43:23 PM
I thought I would start a thread to see if anyone has any random old parts lying around that they would like to see put to use, rather than throw them in the garbage or go through the mental anguish of trying to sell them on Craigslist or eBay.

If someone posts something you want in this thread, send them a PM. Please don't clog the thread up with extra conversation.

I'll start.

I've been doing some spring cleaning around the shop and hopefully these will be of use to someone.

Absolutely free, just pay the shipping or pick them up.

Three signal assemblies from a 1970s Honda (CX500 to be exact), one front and two rear. Chrome is good and two of the three lenses have no cracks. Should fit other models.

Two vintage clamp-on mirrors, brand new.

The only catch is, they have to be used on a project. Free doesn't mean it disappears into your parts heap for all eternity. I can hoard stuff and never let it see the light of day just as well as anyone else.

If you don't use it, pass it on to someone who can.

I'll be listing more as I clean house.

Maybe a moderator can make this a sticky if they wish.

Good Idea.  I'll have to check my spares box to see if there is anything I know I will NOT be needing.

I have a few things.  I'm writing this from my office so haven't checked, but for sure I have a decent seat pan for a '76 KZ900 along with the cushion.  I also have a front fender for an LTD model.

Frank did you misunderstand Shawn?

Title: Re: Free parts! The pay-it-forward thread...
Post by: 754 on May 30, 2017, 08:53:58 PM
I did not misunderstand him.. But no takers.. And I need to find some signals for the four or more bikes I have.
Dont know if I will use them this year.
Am thinking of building a chopper, can use the mirrors.. Again no takers...

So i made the (perhaps indecent ) proposal..... Its just one of the methods of chasing parts.

Hey, I have a Paso907ie, with good exhaust but spares can't hurt, mirrors are a good thing too as I have a few Triumphs. Can I get you to put them on the bus to Kamloops and I will certainly reimburse for cost and effort. PM me for address details if this is okay.

Frank

Gotta love it!

Sorry guys, they'll have to wait.

I did a test-pack on my new backpack tonight and I don't even have room for a pair of shoes. Going to have to spend the car show in my boots.

If I were looking to buy a Wing, I wouldn't get a '76. I'd get a later 1100-5speed. And yes, they're pretty cool naked.

76 5 speed Naked Gold Wing is the grail of Wings, they look better today then our eyes presented them to us 40 years ago.  Real spokes and no Vetter junk on them ( no offence to Vetter fans intended)

Free, headers and peashooter mufflers for 1970-1974 Norton Commando. These came off my brother's '72 full race tune 810cc Dunstall. They got hot. Aviation fuel real hot.  Maybe could be used for a matt black look.

I have a set of new OEM Honda fork seals, still in original sealed package, numbered 51490-MAC-741.  Partzilla shows these seals fitting models:

This Honda 51490-MAC-741 SEAL SET, FR. FORK fits the following models and components:

    Honda Motorcycle 1996 CR250R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1996 CR500R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1997 CR125R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1997 CR500R A FRONT FORK
Honda Motorcycle 1998 CR500R AC FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1998 CR500R A FRONT FORK
Honda Motorcycle 1998 CR125R AC FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1998 CR125R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 1999 CR500R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 2000 CR500R A FRONT FORK
    Honda Motorcycle 2001 CR500R A FRONT FORK

I haven't the faintest idea where I picked these up - I have a feeling that I ordered seals on eBay for something esle and these seals were delivered.  Free to a good home.

Some random bits I think.

FREE:
-1979 kz1000 Policebike frame. I can get title but that’s not free, notary and PST cost.
-1979 kz1000 head
-1979 kz1000 Policebike front end (it’s the wider bigger mk2)

If no response, it’s off to the recycler.

1980 kz1000 LTD $150

Once upon a time I began dismantling this bike. Didn’t get far. I have title, hence the $150. The Kawasaki electronic ignition is worth that.

If no response, it’s off the recycler.

Yup. Missing a bunch. It was EXTREMELY corroded when I got it. It had been down. I shouldn’t have bothered getting it. I took a few bits off of it. I reckon the motor is good but needs dismantling. No pipes. If no one says “yes, I’ll take it” in the next day or so, I’ll strip out the electrical and dismantle it so I ca take it to the recycler. I’m in clear-out mode, not dickin’ around.

Ok. So, I’m clearing out all my motorcycle stuff. If you need/want any KZ/Z1 parts ask me in the next day or two. If I have it, I’m sure we can come to an arrangement. There is some stuff I’ll hang onto until some later date, body parts and the like. But pretty much am gonna ditch most of it.

Free set of KZ1000 aftermarket pistons.  I think they're Wisco but no markings on them to confirm.  They are higher compression though...as you can see from the photo.

I would guess Venolia, MTC or RC.
Wiseco pistons are usually very plain looking.
Can you measure size , could be a nice bore kit for someone..

Title: Re: Free parts! The pay-it-forward thread...
Post by: hardrockminer on November 14, 2018, 03:40:26 PM
I'm pretty sure they're 70 mm but they might be 69.5.  The PO bored out the original 903 cc cylinders and installed these pistons along with a set of Kenny Harmon cams.  The cams have about 1 extra mm of lift.  I don't need the cams.  If someone wants them PM me and I'll provide measurements.

I checked the inside of the pistons and found that someone had inscribed "RR" inside them.  Photo is attached.

We've been trying to stick around home lately due to social distancing.  Sweetums has been busy in the house, painting most of the downstairs.  I've spent a lot of time cleaning and tidying up the bikes and the shop.  I decided I had waaaay too much stuff, so I sorted out the extras and decided to get rid of a few things.  The stuff in the photo below mostly fits Z1/KZ1000 bikes and is surplus to my needs.  If anyone wants something they are welcome to it by paying only for shipping or by coming and picking it up themselves.....from a distance of course!
