Fort Langley is effectively closed on Sunday as it is the Gran Fondo.  Also mosquitos are now out in force.  Alternatives?

My shoulder is feeling much better.  My back is still marginal.  But I’ll be starting off on a trip with my neighbour as you guys are heading to the coffee shop.  Me on my Tracer900 and Michael on his 2022 Africa Twin.  We plan on arriving home Monday the 19th.  Probably do 3500km.  Our route beyond the first 3 or4 days is yet to be determined.

Well, my bike is taking a beating.  Poked a tiny hole in the front of the oil pan and dented the cat.  Trying to tighten the mirror and snapped off the centre pin bolt.  Not doing any more forestry roads….not ever.

    Dude!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!

On a positive note, at least you have an oil pan. Most horizontally split engines in this situation, you'd be looking at a new engine.

It’s a really tiny hole in a really small dent on the front corner of the pan.  A drip once in a while.  Don’t really even know why I bent down to look.  We rode some pretty gnarly roads but I didn’t think I’d hit anything.  Guess I did.

After cleaning, I put a small triangle patch of gorilla tape to stop the oil ooze.  Then I applied a patch of JB Weld over that.  When I get home I’ll grind it off and do a better job.  For now at least, just sitting there on the centre stand, the ooze/ drip seams to have stopped.

Goodness Ross. That's your forever bike!!
I've taken an old FJR1300 down a forest service road. It was like swimming with a 50 pound lead belt. The Tracer series is distinctly more capable, but even on my Red Pig, engine protection is paramount. Be careful, the machine has to get you out of the bush.
