Looking at the Vancouver show website and who shows up in the pics ?

Bummer that another show is cancelled I wonder if a trip to Calgary would be worth it.

Unfortunately, all shows including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton are all cancelled in 2023. Toronto and Montreal only.

Yeah, I can't remember that picture, when it was. I know that's the guy who runs Checkpoint Abbotsford.

  Ace Moto Show
  January 27-29, 2023.
 Downtown Vancouver

Website states: Vancouver's largest motorcycle show.  Probably accurate since there doesn't seem to be any other Vancouver motorcycle shows.  At 150 West Hastings St. - I don't think they could have found a more dodgy location.

140 West Hastings, but yeah, sketchy area to say the least. I'd really like to be involved with this show, I've actually been contacted specifically to show my bikes.

Two things are making me not commit. One, the $25 entry fee. Nuf said on that one, other than that would not include Van City pay parking in incredibly sketchy areas probably a decent walk away from the location. The main thing for me however is this show location surrounded by DTES SRO's, in other words, living accommodations for people suffering from mental illness, drug addiction, and with that the serious danger of fires in the neighbourhood buildings. Heck, last night, Dec15th, there was a fire at 44 W Hastings, they are saying 2 fires a day in the immediate neighbourhood. I know the show organizers will have 24/7 security, and say they will have contents insurance. Heck, they say they will even supply free transport of my machine/machines to and from the show. Which is quite a generous offer. The problem is I guess for me, I don't trust hardly anyone with my machines. I've been burned twice in my life by well intentioned people, that cost me 1000's in repairs because of various levels of human incompetency. I worked the DTES for 29 years, I know what goes on inside those buildings, I assure you it's way worse than what's going on out on the sidewalk on Hastings and Main.
Then there's the picture burned in my mind from 15 years ago when I put my Norton in the Vancouver show in Abbotsford, of a family that walked around the barriers, and saw daddy holding his toddler sitting on the fuel tank , mummy taking cute pictures. That's the last time I put my bike in that show.

I'm sure there will be cool stuff at the show and I encourage anyone to go.

I’m not intimidated or scared of too many places. Heck, I rented a motorcycle and took pics of ‘El Chapo’s ‘ residence up in the hills above Mazatlan 10 yrs ago. Locals called me a loco gringo. All good. Downtown Vancouver East Side I find fascinating, as this is a canary in the coal mine to the entire western civilization, and I personally want to study this visually, to be ahead of this, and be ready to back away to a better safer place should the melt down encroach upon me or mine.

East Hastings makes me nervous too.  I ran the BMO half marathon in 2007 and we went down Hastings past all the people living on the street.  It made me nervous despite being in a large crowd of runners at the time.  East Hastings is a statement about how society treats its weakest members.  I can't imagine that anyone would WANT to live like that if they had alternatives.  Seems clear to me that our drug laws aren't working and we need to find other ways to deal with drugs.  And we need to put a hell of a lot more resources into mental and physical disabilities.

"Society" locally, should never have shut down Riverview. The majority of persons living down there require a padded room for the rest of their life. Cost comparison, and the new leftist rethink dictated it would be 'better' to let the rubber room residents to enter back into society with suitable medication to make them viable contributors to society. This has not worked out as planned. Riverview has been replaced by jail, and death by overdose. The only winners in all this have been the "poverty pimp" companies which have been gifted lucrative contracts through political contacts to set up free injection sites, run down apartments, and set up very lucrative pay scales for the management teams of these organizations.
The future will include more of the same, innocent people getting assaulted, drug habit fires, business theft, business vandalism, business evacuation, from all left leaning jurisdictions. Observance of the slow death is crucial.

  Here it is guys!!!
Todd Copan is the originator of the first Cloverdale/South Delta/Cloverdale spring event. The 2023 event is at the Abbotsford Ag/Rec Centre, Sunday, April 30/23, not the Abbotsford Airport Tradex. Be aware of this location.

Happy 2023 everyone.
I am happy to say that after a 4 year hibernation the Swap Meet is back.
Sunday April 30 at the Abbotsford Exhibition Park.
Nice building and lots of parking.
We have been receiving a lot of calls and messages asking about the show. Thank you for all the support and encouragement.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Yes it is great news! Weather permitting, in conjunction with the Lynden classic bike swap meet the previous weekend, it's our spring/summer riding season kick-off from decades past.

To your question Dale on the opening time, I'll assume it's 10am like always, and the move-in for swap meet vendors I'll assume it's the same time it's always been.

I'm going to clarify the location of the show again.   I'm envisioning many people getting confused multiple times finding this place, especially those not familiar to this town, and it's regular weekend events.
The event will be held at the Abbotsford’s Exhibition Park in 2023 at the AGRIfair Arena, 32470 Haida Dr, Abbotsford, BC.      I'm envisioning people riding/driving into the Abbotsford Airport grounds wondering what's going on. It's NOT at Abby Tradex, it's going to be held at Abbotsford AGRIFair complex, which is basically at Maclure Rd and Trethewey Street. I know it says it's on Haida Drive, which leads me to believe that the entrance to this event is at Gate 2, which, as you circle around the back of this large area of buildings and sports tracks, Trethewey St. does turn into Haida DR. Gate 1 is off of Trethewey, but be AWARE, GATE 1 IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE WEEKLY EVERY SUNDAY GENERAL SUMMER SWAP MEET, which could very easily be confused for the 'once a year' bike swap meet. I'm assuming that GATE1 is the entrance ONLY because the entrance address is Haida Drive on the swap meet website. Awareness of this potentially confusing situation will be the key to many things in a successful life, to be aware. LOLOL. It might be real easy to swing a motorbike around in a parking lot, but will be a potential hassle for a vendor with a trailer full of bikes or stuff.

Well, the swap meet was a classic affair of HA and Support East End attired persons , tattoo artwork up to most people’s ears, literal shoulder to shoulder with the smell of wet ganja and tobacco in the air. Things for sale were 90-95% shovelhead rust, tiny bits of British and Japanese.
Clearly I need to learn from Bucko in the art of monetary preservation, who upon studying the situation , casually entered an unattended back door for free entrance. I felt thoroughly defeated when I found out, like I failed the most basic of tests in the art of a great swap meet deal. I really miss that $5 bill, been in my wallet since late 1999.

Yes, there are indeed two events one day apart, March 30 at Langley, March 31 at the Vancouver location. It is free to attend, but requires registration to allow for catering for the nice food spread. I will be at the March 30 event in the Langley dealership, they have asked me to bring over to display my bumblebee, and they have asked Shail’s MC to bring a collection of his cool olde Beemers, and also to commemorate his decades as a BMW representative in Canada.

Interesting observations at the Lynden swap meet. The quantity of product for sale has grown to
The point that they’ve opened an adjoining cattle barn. Quite a few complete barn finds, but interesting to see prices on barn finds have gone up. Bikes for sale, depending on widely understood values, have gone up a lot, while models not considered above ‘two star value’ have not moved much. The American hosts were exclusively very happy, nice, polite, happy to engage to Just talk bikes. Local Vincent gathering, with machines displayed separately in an exclusive manner away from the myriad of other  beautifully restored machines, were as usual sullen, offering full view of their nostrils and nose hairs to all non Vincent subjects. Great food from Mexican food truck!
I didn’t buy anything. I was looking specifically for a 1974 K3 CT70 owners manual. There were stacks of factory manuals of many different Japanese and British machines but not what I wanted.

Had a quick chat with Dale and Kev from Vaporblast Canada on Sunday outside in the bike parking. Offered a strong rumour of a motorcycle swap meet/gathering they are planning to host once again at their location on Progress Way in Chilliwack. Date still pending, but sounds like around the Fathers Day sort of 'region' of the month. Once I hear of it, i'll put it on this event schedule unless Dale or Kevin want to make it official here first.

The Moto Social Vancouver. July Event.

July 25, 2023, Tuesday. Location, 50’s Burgers,   7741, Edmonds Street, Burnaby.

7-9pm. Any and all bikes on display. Witness the huge variation on display.

Weather,,,,,,they usually call a postponement if weather is off. If I get a postponement call, I’ll try to update this thread, but their Facebook page will give a more accurate call. Sounds like weather will clear up nicely, and be pleasantly not super hot.

I wanted to correct my claim about the date of this years Anacortes Oyster Run. I stated at Sunday's Fort Coffee that it was Sept 10, incorrect. It is September 24th.
