Title: Collector bike now insured
Post by: kilowop on March 19, 2024, 08:35:45 AM
Insured my '81 Suzuki 550 last weekend and managed a 62 km shake down cruise with no issues.  BUT, spent time last Sunday adding some 'comfort' to the seat to raise it an inch or so.  Had some cramping in my hip joints. Not sure if it's the seat, or just my old bones.  Still have a few items to complete on my shiny new V-Strom 650 and hope to get it on the road in April.

I really liked Sweetum's KZ550 with six gears.  I would have bought it from her but it was too small for my long legs.  I see it's for sale on Castanet.  The guy wants over 3 grand to pay for some of his customizing.  He replaced the original pipes (that I struggled to find) with a 4/1, added some new bars and reshaped the seat.

Your 550 is just as nice now that you've sorted out the carb issues.

The early window a lovely weather has given me a chance to pull out a couple dinosaurs,  the Laverda Tuesday, and the red pig. Did about 250 kms on the red pig and 60 kms on the Laverda,,,,it’s clear that ‘riders rump’ is a condition that is acquired in the riding season. Sore ass after 2 hrs in the early season, 10 hrs when the season truly has settled in.
