Lovely Bike.  I had the '83 model.  Virtually identical, with the major exception of the blacked out engine.  Handles well, fast enough for anyone with a desire to survive.  I'm sure you'll enjoy riding it.

Speaking of internet forum problems, has the club ever considered opening up a Facegroup Group, either private or semi-public?

I realize the main demographic (older gentlemen?) may not have, or be on board with, Facebook, but I know myself and a half dozen vintage enthusiasts would consider joining—and actively growing the involvement—of the BCCMC if it were more accessible. It seems to work for a number of other clubs and groups I belong to already (ex. a vintage group formed last year that has already organized a dozen group rides and already has a very active 700+ membership).

I'm new to you guys and would love to have more "young" people (under 50, say) to talk and ride vintage bikes with. I'd rather not start yet another motorcycle group; I'd be interested in discussing how to help the BCCMC grow.

NOOOO FACEBOOK!!! I have lasted this long without joining the matrix. Please don't make me do it now.

Thanks! Yeah. It's quite a different animal from the XS that has all that torque down low. The single front disk is a little overwhelmed, I have to say. Converting to a standard GS front end would make it a really great bike. My favourite part of the refurb was when I got super lucky on ebay and found an original mint exhaust for $100.

Before you go to the trouble and expense of changing the forks so you can have double discs....try stainless braided brake lines, and softer brake pads.  I did it and it make a substantial difference.  Good Luck.

Stuck a plate on the mighty V, plugged in the electric vest and sallied forth to begin another riding season.  Cool Just a short shakedown cruise to confirm all systems go. Last year I was the first rider to show up at Dreamcycle, so I swung by there to be 'first' again. Onward to Pebble Beach and back to Chase to check out Little Shuswap Lake and then go to the overlook on the switchbacks nearby.

Nice to get out, but it sucks to lose my riding buddy.  Cry

Looking good for another great season.  As for you losing a riding buddy. That doesn't have to happen, just invite him to meet you somewhere as long as he brings or buys the lunch.  We all know how much he enjoys food.
