This song was a big hit in 1973.  Little did the singer realize at that time that his song would become a lament for the loss of his co-writer, who died in 2001.

Steve Young recorded "Seven Bridges Road" in 1969. Iain Matthews' arrangement of the song used 5 part harmonies, and the Eagles opened some concerts singing this arrangement acapella:

There was another birthday boy yesterday that I should have recognized.  He had a lot of hits back in the 70's and 80's.  This wasn't his most well known tune but it's typical of his style.

This guy was well known in the sixties and seventies but hasn't been real active for a couple of decades.  This song was big in the 70's.

This song in many ways defined who we were back in the sixties.  The guitar work is raw and the words are about rebellion.

He said the song is about "the absurdity of drug-fueled grandiosity," possibly related to the Ativan detox program he went through shortly before writing the song.
