In 1952, Johnny and his brother, Dorsey Burnette, and their mutual friend Paul Burlison formed the band that became known as the rock and roll trio. His career was cut short on August 14, 1964, when he was killed in a boat crash at age 30.

This was the music that inspired the Beatles and many other British bands that became popular in the 60's.  Burnette wasn't the only rocker to die young.  Gene Vincent died in a car crash.  Of course Buddy Holley and the Big Bopper...the day the music died.  One person that carried it on was this guy.

Great old tune!  Very well done.  I love the harmonica.

Here is a good old Nova Scotia band doing another old song with some great harmonica.  I saw these guys live back around 1980 and they tore the house down.

This guy has been part of the reggae scene for decades.  He didn't write this song but he sang it first I think.  It was part of a movie by the same name.

This song comes from a great album titled "In Search of the Lost Chord".  It wasn't the band's most popular song but I really like it.  I once owned the album.

Here's a motorcycle song by an old folk singer who's having a birthday today.

Little bit of Hall & Oates, live, on Burt Sugerman’s Midnight Special.

Roger McGuinn turned 80 yesterday.  He was a key member of this band from the 60's who covered a lot of Bob Dylan music.

This old song was a hit for the Amboy Dukes in the early 70's.  Their lead guitarist went on to record a few songs of his own, including Cat Scratch Fever.  This isn't that song.

She turned 76 yesterday.  A great country/rock singer from the 70's.

Johnny Winter died eight years ago today.  This is the song that made me aware of who he was.

I remember hearing this song back in the 50's, when I was riding the bus to school and sitting up near the bus driver because I had been rowdy in the back.

Here is a Scottish Flautist with a silent movie star, filmed outside Portland OR.  May be the greatest rock and roll flute solo.

Or for a better sound experience Live at Montreux 2003:

That might be Ian Anderson...and I would agree that he's the greatest rock floutist ever.  And one of the greatest stage musicians too.

Here's another oldie celebrating a birthday...still has a great voice.  I think i posted this before...check out the chorus.
