This guy signed early to Apple Records.  He recorded a few Beatles tunes but is much better known for his own songs.  This one was written about someone who left him unexpectedly.

This band became popular with their second album in 1972.  At the time I was living in Hamilton, working at the old Westinghours major appliances plant.  I would walk home at the end of my shift and put this record on.  While it was playing i would heat up a couple of knives and.....well, you know.
