This song was a hit when I was in university in the early '70's.  It's a really interesting song, with a slow intro followed by a nice guitar riff, some interesting lyrics and a complete change of musical direction.  Still a fresh tune today.

That was a medley of their many hits!

This song hit the charts around 1978.  It was a huge hit, but the band failed to maintain their popularity and faded from music.  The lead singer on this. song really belts it out.  The guitar riff is famous.

Willie Nelson is a prolific songwriter with a great talent to observe and write about simple things in everyday life.

This is a ballad he wrote in the early 1960's, and he has sung it but he wasn't the singer who sang the most popular version.

Here is a Junior Brown cover of "Freeborn Man".  Jimmy Martin (King of Bluegrass) did a great job, but this cover has a little bit of everything.

Now that was interesting. Never heard of the guy. Terrific guitar picking skills for sure, but the hillbilly shtick is a little over the top.

I had the "Third Stage" album from 1986 I believe. It was GOOD.

An amazing picker.  Not a song to inspire a good run though.

For those of you who are still working...this song epitomizes how I felt on this day of the week.

As a youngster I remember listening to a guy on the school bus singing this song every day for a couple of months.  Great song!

This song is one of the best the Beatles ever sang.  A lot of people have covered it but not with the same emotion.

This song is all about the beat, although it has some lovely flute in it as well.  A great running song.

I like Billie Jean....played on a Ukulele!

Staying with the Australian music scene for one more song...the lead singer in this one was once Australia's Minister of Environment.  It's a song about global warming.  I would call them Australia's Tragically Hip.

I really like the Beatles.  I have most of their music on my phone and listen to it whenever I'm out running or skiing or walking the dogs.  You can usually tell who was the main songwriter by listening to who sings the song.  Early on it was mainly John and Paul.  This is one of their early songs, made notable by George's feedback fuzz at the beginning.  John is the lead singer.

This is an excellent cover of a Bob Dylan song.  In many ways it was the anthem for the boomer generation coming of age at the time it was recorded.
