I'm just glad that there is no homeless problem, no drug problem, no children going to school without breakfast and we now have all this free time to focus on whether or not "Brown Sugar" is racist.

I am too old, too white and too privileged to even respond to your statement on considering reality.
I have the next two weeks planned with my children, some of their cousins and younger members of the family too get some family stuff and visiting done back east. I am not sure I will even have a stub of a tongue left when I return.
Wish me luck!

ps But I hear you Shawn.

Trent Reznor wrote it but it's got a lot more soul when Johnny sings it: https://youtu.be/8AHCfZTRGiI

This is probably the first time I heard Eric Clapton play guitar.  Ever since I've been a lifelong fan.  The band also includes Jack Bruce on vocals and Ginger Baker on drums...both of them became icons of blues music.  Here's the song from the 1960's.

Cream recorded their version of Spoonful on their album "Fresh Cream".  I owned that album at one time and thought for years that Cream were the song's authors.  They were not.  It was written by Willie Dixon, and here it is recorded by Howlin Wolf in the early 60's.

The Beatles did a lot of cover songs that nowadays most people think were theirs to begin with, because they were so popular no one plays the original any longer.  One of the covers they did was originally sung by the Shrirelles, a very popular girl group in the early 60's.  I think the Beatles appreciated good harmony, a strong point of the Shirelles.  Here's the original version of Baby It's You, done by Shirelles, and then the Beatles.

I have a lot of Three Dog Night on my phone.  Great running songs!

Here is another Shirelles song covered by the Beatles.  After the Beatles broke up Ringo continued to do it.

Fast songs always give me an adrenaline rush, which is why I like them when I run.  They also help to keep a fast pace, so are most important in the last quarter of a race when your head is telling your feet to slow down and stop the hurt.  This sone is a great one for the final kilometer.

Back to cover songs.  This is again a Beatles cover....well sort of.  It's a John Lennon cover of a Ben King song.
