Pulled the wheels of the Norton today.   Going to respoke them with stainless steel spokes.   Nothing like starting a winter project in the middle of April

Put a battery in the Hog and it fired up ! Yahoo , most of the oil stayed in it ! I will have to dust off the pirate suit and see if it will go down the road .

Installed an LED headlight conversion in the 'Guzzi and upgraded the fog lamps to LED floods from KC. Much better than the factory Hella lamps and almost no load on the electrical system.







The headlamp conversion is from ADVMonster and replaces H4 bulbs without much modification, wiring is plug-and-play.

a little more progress on the H1...some vaporblasted then polished parts  Grin going to try to get it into a roller

Removed and cleaned and re-oiled the air cleaner, removed about a half a pound of dead bugs from the ram air inlets.  Cleaned the hell out of her.  She looks WICKED!!!

Seems like every other site has one of these so might as well try here and see how far this thread might go.......I don't remember ever seeing a "What did you do to your motorcycle today?" thread on here.  Maybe there was?

I was a busy boy today with the bikes.  Finally decided to drain the fuel tank and carbs on the RZ 350 I bought in spring.  Way overdue, I wanted to do this several months back as I didn't want the carbs to start gumming up on me.  Removed some plastic bits, got the battery back in, drained the tank and started the bike up to burn up what was within the carbs.  Started right up after a few kicks and then there was 2 stroke smoke...........and the masses were happy Grin  The bike is now back in the basement and will get some cosmetic attention sometime in the future.  I do feel better knowing that the carbs have been drained.

After starting a very long time ago and abruptly coming to a halt a short while back, the 93 Katana 750 once again is looking like a motorcycle.  Triples, front forks, front wheel, fender and brakes found their way back on the bike last night and today.  New grease for the steering head bearings and speedo drive box.  All went together nicely and will start now on the plastics for this motorcycle.
Need to thank Trevor for motivating me back to the Kat.  Trevor's story and pics re his GSXR 750 purchase provided me with the motivation to carry on.  After all, the Katana and GSXR are closely related.

Finally, spent some time getting the red 84 GS 750 ready for winter.  My daily rider.  Drained the tank and carbs and took it down to the basement for another winter.  Had a couple people interested in buying it from me over the past few weeks but didn't quite get to the selling point this time around.  We'll see what happens this spring.

Anybody else work on their bike?

Almost completed next phase of making the Concours comfortable enough to be usable....that's what I get for buying a hot rod from a younger rider.

Major change may not agree philosophically or cosmetically with some hotshots, but decided to try an ATV bar with a 7 inch rise...at least it's black, and not too much of a pullback.   This meant having a second hydraulic clutch line made up by Hose'n'All, and some minor rerouting of throttle lines.

Thought that the solid core ends of the bars would just have to be drilled and tapped to accept the Throttlemeister bar end weights/friction cruise control.....metric bolts, so special size bit (recommended by machininst-type forums) needed..found at CT.....drilled one end out to sufficient depth, cut about 1/4" in (with backing out to clear swarf), and tap broke.  According to people with more metal knowledge that I, not a complete disaster, there are bigger-hammer methods of extracting the broken tap, another project later, after I test this setup in actual riding......actually, not bad, just 5" higher than stock, and may be more comfortable on longer ride.

Apologies to Glenn, who was a bit traumatized by the 3" higher setup I used during our Revy/Nakusp tour last weekend, this one is even further from stock..... Wink
