A few months ago a friend gave me a set of Z1 carbs.  Today I finished a rebuild.  They were ultrasonic washed, vapour blasted and fitted with new Keyster carb kits.

Oh...and I also rebuilt a set of signals for Sweetum's bike.  New wiring, covers lenses and bulbs.  She plans to put them on the back of her grab bar so that she has room for saddlebags.

I bought a set of Z1 forks a few months ago for $50.  Parts arrived yesterday so I rebuilt them and finished things up today.  New upper tubes, vapour blasted lowers, new seals, fork caps, reflectors and dust covers.  Springs were in spec and dampers were good.  I wonder sometimes though about previous owners.  The oil in these ones had congealed and was full of dirt.  Possibly never changed in 45 years.

Today I took a try at restoring a vintage stator cover.  The original was in poor shape with a lot of gouges and scratches, but they pretty much came out after sanding with 80 grit, followed by 260.  Then I had the cover vapour blasted and finished it with 600/1200/2000 wet sanding, and finally some Mothers polish.  The DOHC area was painted with Tremclad exterior gloss, but I think I need another coat.  The paint was probably a bit too thick to apply consistently.

#5 is still for sale. He Built #8 for himself. Plans to race it at Sons of Speed in Florida this March.
