I thought the MotoGiro was for small bikes? I see some big ones there?

the motogiro is for 250cc and smaller and 69 and older, they don't mind bigger bikes to ride along but not part of the event. the big bike riders are usually voluntiers  such as road marshals or timers. i don't have a small bike so i rode my commando.

I made it to the Moto Giro this year!  Well overdue for a ride into that area of BC.  Left a little later than expected on Sunday morning and returned to West Kelowna
that evening.
Last time I made an appearance at the giro was in 2017(?) on the Concours 1000.  This year, the 550 or so km trip was completed on the 1993 Katana 750.
Very different rides, both producing a rider super grin when completed!
Predominantly cooler temps aided in ensuring the bike ran well at any speed.
It was a fabulous run - lots of twisties, not much traffic in either direction, chatted with a few bike folk along the way.  Epic run!!
Posting a few pics for your viewing pleasure. ;)

At the Needles ferry dock looking east towards the road leading to Nakusp.  The ferry is just docking on the other side of the lake.  The water level is astonishingly low... :o

What a great riding day.  Note to self:  should do this more often.

This year’s event was awesome. Record turnout, lots of new faces , full race grid and fabulous weather. The Friday night back alley mingle is always fun as everyone gets reacquainted and looks over the bikes. The Saturday road loop to Nelson had a big group of bikes of all shapes and displacements. A few mechanical failures but i think only small crash over the weekend. I believe the hill climb saw a new record of 5 minute 50 seconds set by a 250 Ducati. Trust me that’s quite impressive. Kudos to the organizers. Nice t shirt and poster. There was a professional film crew there documenting the event and we look forward to seeing that. There were a number of events on in the Kootenays including a large car show in Nelson so it seemed like there was always something to capture your attention. If you’re thinking about attending you need to be there for Friday night and the Saturday road ride. Bring the most interesting thing in your shed. No judgement as to make, model. If you’re thinking of competing do a little research. Although more than a few people ride a 125, Gileras are popular, I think you need a little more HP. A least 20 would be nice. Maintaining a decent speed , in the mountains, for 330 km takes some skill and you’ll be tired at the end of the day. You’ll still have enough strength to hold a beer though. Anybody can ride a big bike lol.

Hi Jeff,
Nice to see your post, had not seen anything from you in a while. I had this on my calendar to try and attend this year but my health has kept me down this summer with no riding or wrenching or really anything.
I am going to Vancouver this week for a session in the hospital and more assessments so maybe I will be better for next season?
The weather is holding up nicely so there is still some good riding to be done so enjoy guys.
Frank

Hey Frank, sorry to hear of your health problems. Old age is a bitch and we all face it. Hope you can get back on a bike soon . it’s the best medicine there is.

Still in hospital. One of the docs says I don’t deserve to be this bad without having cancer so they are scanning and probing me way too much I think. Nothing so far but one of these @$$#0!Es is determined to prove he is right !!
Feeling alright though so things will get better.

Thanks guys, I don’t mean to hijack the thread. My intention is to get back in my shop and on the road as I have a ‘66 Ducati Monza just about ready and ‘69 Stingerdone  that would be perfect to show off for this event. Next year I am there!
