Title: Wheels in hospital
Post by: Wheels on September 29, 2022, 01:15:21 PM
Hi, this is June posting for John.  Last week while vacationing in Fairmont John had a dizzy spell and fainted.  As he says 'I broke the fall with my head'.  Geesh.  He fractured a rib and punctured his lung.  They took him via amblance to Invermere and transferred the next day to Crabrook ICU.  He seems to be on the mend now.  Just thought we would give you an update.  John says 'You don't need a motorcycle to get hurt'.

Modern medicine is amazing, they should be able to to detect what caused your fainting spell and correct it.  In the meantime  i wish you a s speedy recovery my friend.

Thanks for posting this. ( The man formerly known as JC ) John, and here I thought it was going to be your Harley that was going to cause you grief. See if you can get some sort of upgrade while you’re in there!

Good morning all,

My good wife Erica has been in correspondence with June and it seems things are not so well with John yet. He has had a 'rough 3 weeks' since his incident and has been transferred to Calgary ICU last Sunday. They are trying to get him moved back to the lower mainland so the family can see him. I don't know anything more specific than that. June mentioned that I could share this with the club as we are another family of his and he would want us to know. I'll post updates if I hear anything more.

Please keep John and June in your thoughts & prayers, and let's all send well wishes for a positive outcome moving forward. Rob

A brief update, John has been transferred to a Vancouver hospital and is showing some improvement. June wasn't long on details so we'll respect their privacy. Let's all keep John and June in our thoughts as they navigate this all. Best wishes from Rob & Erica.

Every time I’m around club members at coffee (now twice a week) I ask if anyone has heard how John is doing.  But no one has any news.  A while back I had sent a text and email to John asking him to drop me a line when he was up to it.  I’ve not had a response.  I really like John and hope he’s well.  Perhaps I’ll try again.

Hi all,

We have just heard from June today, with some encouraging news. It seems John had been transferred this past weekend to Ridge Meadows Hospital and there is talk of him possibly coming home in the near future. This is great news, and very welcome to hear, after such a long duration. I guess all the well wishes and kind thoughts sent to J & J by all of you guys have born some fruit. Keep the vibe going and pray he's home for a joyful holiday season. Keep strong June. All the best, Erica & Rob

I just got a call from John.  He’s chuckling that he’s still above ground.  He’s in Ridge Meadows Hospital and hopefully will be home in a couple of weeks.  It was great to hear his voice.

So, I’ve been out to visit John in hospital a few times lately.  Looks like he’ll be heading home likely Tuesday or Wednesday.  Gonna take some time to get his strength back.  He’s in good spirits and itching to get home.

Hello everyone.  I am at home recuperating after 3 months in the hospital.     I did not realize I could sleep for 3 weeks straight but thank June for not letting them pull the plug on me back in October.   I appreciate all of the support and have read every message this morning.  I am walking but very weak and I am cold and constantly tired so this will be a long process.  Today June is going to try and have me walk around the block with my walker which has a seat on it should I tire out and need to give my legs a break.   I can do stairs now but very slowly and with assistance of a cane. I cannot get in and out of my car as it is too low for me so June has been my chauffer the past few days. Looks like it is going to be a long haul to return to normal.
Hopefully I can get back on the bikes when spring arrives.  Galactica has been kind enough to pick up parts for me and has offered his time to work in the garage with me when I am ready.
Thank you once again for all of your messages and thoughts and hope to see many of you in the New Year

John

Really glad to hear you are at home, you will probably progress quicker than you think. It's easy to do nothing in the hospital. I think you will want to"putter" at something and that will get you moving.

GET WELL !
