Title: Mondegreens Post by: hardrockminer on December 24, 2023, 04:25:41 PM A mondegreen is a mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase in a way that gives it a new meaning. Mondegreens are most often created by a person listening to a poem or a song; the listener, being unable to hear a lyric clearly, substitutes words that sound similar and make some kind of sense. When I was young my brother thought "Leader of the Pack" was "Peter of the Rock". For years I thought Jimmi Hendrix was queer because he sang "Scuse me while I kiss this guy!"
