Some of Rick Brett's 2 stroke collection will be in the auction.  I heard a '69 H1 among other machines.

Meh, you can buy a Kawasaki from the comfort of home.

Those wonks post at least one or two for sale on here every week.  Grin

And one for Stan. But seriously.  It’s just like one big vintage  bike show in two places.  Very cool. And interesting people and builders.

That H1 is probably Rick's.  I think he has seven including one still in the crate.

I have decided pretty much to just stay home this January. I go almost every year but 1700 bikes to look at is a bit much although Bonham's looks interesting this year.

If you're into watching the auction, ogling the bikes, that's all kewl.  It's fun, I've done it there at least 6 times in the last 15 years. As a Canadian, with Cdn funds, actually thinking about buying a bike down there, just for the 2 minutes of glory, I'd warn against it. I've got 3 buddies who've bought bikes down there, actually very knowledgeable bike guys. They were summarily ripped off all of them. Landed cost of a $6000US bid/win bike, in your driveway, is going to be $10,000 Cdn before Cdn tax. It better be a bike that is never found north of the 49th, then I guess it makes sense. Buying a bike at an auction is sing your little head, not your big head.

Don't forget about the 12% buyers premium.

Having been to RM, Gooding, Bonhams, Mecum, and Russo & Steele auctions, plus having watched and seen the product of Barrett Jackson:

Your best bet for a properly researched, properly represented, quality investment is dealing with RM, Gooding or Bonhams.

If you want to feel like you're buying cattle but still get something decent, deal with Mecum or Russo & Steele, though Mecum has stepped up their game a lot in the last couple years.

If you want to get fleeced for a misrepresented piece of garbage and be sold sizzle with no steak, by all means, deal with Barrett Jackson. You've got just as much luck buying from "Dollar Bill's easy auto" down on Kingsway.

Don’t forget Shipping, federal tax at border, broker fee as you now need a US export number, provincial tax upon registration, if you have registration and the numbers match.   Somebody Stoooppp Meeee.!!!! If I bring home a bike I’ll buy you all a drink... but. It’s still cool.  Like an indoor Barber...
