Well I sit in the comfort of my living room taking t-3s... pretty sore that's for sure. Lol....it was the second day on our way home.
It had been raining most of the morning and had stopped for the morning.... these roads of course have no signs rider/driver beware... came around a sweeping corner at around 70kms and to my surprise had a another road connected to it.... and there I was coming head on with a ford ranger. I moved to the right and so did he, then he turned to his left.... I went from hitting him head on to side swiping his rear quarter panel at the rear tire. Hit the truck hard and bounced off throwing me over the bars and hard on the ground. Got up and took my helmet and jacket off quick in case I was hurt bad. I felt pain immediately in my left ribs. Luckily I had male nurse Rob. Once we determined I was ok Rob picked my bike up to check the damage.... well these old DR's are tough! Bent handle bars, rear signal out of place, dent in tank, barkbusters did their job.... best part...started up first kick! Lol....anyway that ended out day of riding home in the dirt...we rode 30kms to get on pavement and then about another 120kms home... lucky for me Greg had some T-3s with him....ride was painful....getting gas in cowicgan lake sucked to as I had to kick start the bike...lol...anyway got home and wife made me go to the ER to be safe....3 1/2 hours later I was on my way home. Heavy bruising. Atgatt. Can't believe I walked away from this. My first accident on a motorcycle. Sucks but could have been way worse. Oh and the guy in the truck...he was up there doing geo caching! Lol
I can't thank my riding partners enough for all they did to help me get on the bike....especially Rob!
Doctor said I needed "to buy a lottery ticket".... not a bad idea. Smiley

Glad you aren't banged up any worse... but I thought it was Rob who was looking for a Ford Ranger, not you!  Wink

Lol thanks buddy! Yeah rob tried to buy it. Thought it would be great to be able to traumatize me with it forever after! Smiley

One guy got lost and rode the whole way home alone

[/quote]No offence guys but when you go for a ride YOU do not leave someone behind.............. Huh?

The guy in front should always wait for the rider at the next turn off.

Gee Trevor, you didn’t look any worse for wear when I saw you Wednesday, or even particularly high for that matter. Glad you have all your parts in working order.
On a sad note a fellow I had met several times passed away after a crash on Mills Rd over the weekend.
Stay safe everyone.

I heard about the Mills Rd crash. Sad I also heard that the fellow who passed away was one of those 'around the world' type adventure riders. Is that correct MJ?

I know very little about the crash itself other than it involved an SUV. Mills road is pretty straight with few roads entering and not a high traffic area, having said that, there is a market on the side. Though as I said I didn’t really know him, just to say hi, a former Brit who had ridden all his adult life both there and here, I will say he rode in a spirited fashion. The bike was sent to the dealer for an inspection for defect, I doubt very much there was. The police haven’t released further details that I am aware of. Just a cautionary tale for the cafe racers out there.

Mini Thanksgiving day ride up Westside Rd on the Concours (sorry, not a classic).  Saw a bighorn sheep limping on the road.  Probably had an unfortunate encounter of the automotive type perhaps?  Called 911 to let someone know before something really ugly happened and had.....once again....a not so friendly discussion with the person taking the call.
Connie at the Asian restaurant parking lot on Westside Rd.  -  the restaurant that is never open.
Nice fall ride.

If you're in Nebraska and the wind stops or you see a tree, pull over immediately and take a nap. You're having road hallucinations.
