Worked in a machine shop in the 70,s and an other shop changed the design by 5% on a dump box system and got away with it.

Not fair IMO .

Nice design Bear.

No need to apologise for a rant. Pity about the crap bike you took for your ride....

Joe was up for the weekend we were out on the 850 NVT and the 750 Commando for 4 great days of riding, not far but steady speeding.

My rant is I prepared the rebuilt RE 500 Bullet with new bore, piston and rings then took it out Thursday and it did not make it 25 miles and it seized up and ate the piston again !!! Bore is being re-honed, no great damage but have to wait for a new piston and this time I will measure the piston fit/clearance much more closely and go for 6-6.5 thou at least. Looks like the seal for the crank feed quill might not have been good enough to give enough oil flow as well or maybe running too lean or maybe just a combo. Will have cooler weather to run it in now in any case.

ooh, almost forgot, Joe and I took my '71 BSA Gold Star B50SS out of storage did a little oil change, change plug and lead then with quite a few kicks got it up and running. I like the ride on this one.

6 thou sounds like a mile..look atvthe oil system. I had an out of round bonked spigot that made my honed bore oval.
Not Having my die grinder I carefully worked of a thousands of an inch to match the others at 1 thou clearance at bottom of the bore..got it running and left a day later for 3000 mile ride.

6 thou should never seize from heat , I am thinking.

Bear, are you a P. Eng?  Just wondering because you said you designed some buildings.

No Hardrock,

I was an award winning design/builder for 30 years and moved to the Okanagan to semi retire. I designed buildings up here for a couple vineyards, a winery, a waterfront home rebuild and 3 of our own houses. The winery building is built, apparently one of the vineyard buildings is built without my knowledge or compensation, the rebuild is ongoing and our 3 houses are occupied.

When I first came to BC  I started in Whistler and Squamish. Built 2 homes in Garibaldi Highlands and did one of the realty offices downtown.

Thanks for that!  I take it that your design is passed on to an engineer to ensure it meets code.

If the design passes, the engineer lets Bear blow the trains whistle.

Those are some nice CB's Parm!

Paula and i did an overnight loop through the west Koots. Lumby, Nakusp, Kaslo,Trout lake, Revelstoke and home. The smoke fouled up the views unfortunately and the "noseeums/fruit flies" were fierce when stopped. Took a look at the Quarry where all the stone was cut for the Nelson court house, was pretty cool. Too bad it's been fouled up by spray paint and garbage from partying teenagers...

Loving the vstrom, especially for the trout lake gravel route.

Where is the quarry. .
I HAD HEARD that Ellison Park west of Vernon is where they got the stone for the Vernon courthouse.

I finally got out on the LC350 to try out the new trans bearings, MUCH smoother!

After riding bike with fairings all year this little bike reminds me of how much wind you take on a naked bike.
